Wither

I've been a fast reader lately! Two books this week so far. Yay for me! Anyways.................
I just finished the book Wither by Lauren DeStefano and I was expecting to love it but... I only liked it. So here's the review:

The summary makes the book sound sooo much cooler than it is. Sorry to say so. The book was kind of... well, boring. It was only really interesting in some of the parts, other than that. It was the same old thing. I would think that Rhine would be more worried about her death, but it was nothing like that. She barely even thought about it. The plot of the book was good, but I think it could have gone into so many different directions. But it didn't. Of course, the book did make me cry, which is always the sign of some beautiful writing, so thumbs of for that. But overall I was pretty much dissapointed, I guess I was kind of hoping for a sort of Delirium sort of book. But nothing can top Delirium! But now back to this book... Ok some parts of it were good, but I felt myself skipping a whole lot of paragraphs and searching for a good part in the book. The only exciting parts were the very beginning when she was kidnapped, and the very end, when everything was wrapped up. But if your in for a romance-ish kind of novel, you can read this. It wasn't much of a sci-fi, which was what I was expecting. Still, I'm glad I read it.

Across the Universe

Heyyyy. I went to the pool today for the first time since last year! It was sooo much fun!
But now back to the books... I finished Across the Universe by Beth Revis, it was sooo good!!! So here's the review. I think I'm gonna start using the actual books summaries instead of writing my own...

Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.
Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone-one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship-tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.
Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming.
Well first of all, this summary was soooooooo much more confusing than the actual book, so don't be fooled! This book was absolutely amazing. It captured me from the beginning and kept me throughout the whole thing! The plot was so completely unique and infecting, I couldn't stop reading! The way the book was written was amazing too, it wasn't too serious or too cheerful, it was just write for the book. Amy is such an amazing character. She was so determined and even though things went completely, and I mean completely wrong, she kept her head held high and found a way to make things better.
Then there's Elder. And Elder was awesomeeee. He was basically the only person on the ship that had been there from the start and yet deep down, he knew what was going on wasn't right. And once Amy came along, he didn't hold back, he made sure that people knew what he was standing up for. And in the end it payed off. The beginning of the book was really good, the middle a little muggy, but still good! And the end was amazing, it was something I never saw coming. So overall, I loved it!

WOOHOO! I have officially just gotten 1000 views on my blog! Thanks you guys!!! I'll make sure to keep you guys updated with reviews. I think I'm gonna pick up the book, "Across the Universe" from the library today so I should have a review up in a week or so.

I haven't been reading lately, so I need some suggestions. Does anyone have an absolutely amazing book that they've fell in love with??? What's your favorite favorite book? What would you read over and over and never get bored with? I really need a good book to read! Tell me what you think!

Just Some Randomness

So I just got back from my taekwondo tournament and thought I'd get on. Anyways, apparently today is is the end of the world??? I just learned that from Facebook. Well, I'm still here, so we'll see at 6:00 pm today... lol, nothings gonna happen guys! *knock on wood*.

Specials

Hi guys! I'm like in a really good mood right now because I just finished a track meet and did good :), soooo yeah. Anyways, I recently (like two weeks ago) bought You Wish by Mandy Hubbard and Specials by Scott Westerfield and so here's the review for Specials: (btw this is not my own summary)

The words have sent chills down Tally's spine since her days as a repellent, rebellious ugly. Back then Specials were a sinister rumor — frighteningly beautiful, dangerously strong, breathtakingly fast. Ordinary pretties might live their whole lives without meeting a Special. But Tally's never been ordinary.
And now she's been turned into one of them: a superamped fighting machine, engineered to keep the uglies down and the pretties stupid.
The strength, the speed, and the clarity and focus of her thinking feel better than anything Tally can remember. Most of the time. One tiny corner of her heart still remembers something more.
Still, it's easy to tune that out — until Tally's offered a chance to stamp out the rebels of the New Smoke permanently. It all comes down to one last choice: listen to that tiny, faint heartbeat, or carry out the mission she's programmed to complete. Either way, Tally's world will never be the same.
This book was sooo much better than the last two, plus it had a good ending! It had the excitement and the twists and the stupid mistakes that characters always make in books but it only makes the book better. It was a little sad, in the end, but I knew someone had to end up dying. It amazed me how Tally still had a hint of her ugly self even though her brain had been completely changed and she was barely even herself anymore. I also loved how the book went to places I'd never imagined it could go, the things that went wrong only added to the greatness of the book. A little slow in the beginning, but then again, I always say that. LOVED the ending! And overall, this book was amazingg! Again, I say that a lot too. If you haven't read this book, READ IT, and if you have, well, read it again!

You Wish

Hola!!! Guess what I just read??? You Wish by Mandy Hubbard! I love this book soooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was just as funny and amazing as Mandy's previous book, Prada and Prejudice. So here's the review for this awesome book.

Kayla is having the worst 16th birthday party ever. Her mom isn't paying attention to her, her best friend Nicole isn't there, and her arch-nemesis Janae is there. Once Kayla makes a wish and blows out her 16 candles, everything changes.
The next day, there's gumballs everywhere in her room. The day after, she finds a pink pony in her backyard. Day after day, something strange happens until Kayla realizes that all her wishes have been coming true. From when she was 4 to when she was 16. At first things are fine, but then Kayla realizes that when she 15, she wished for Ben Mackenzie to kiss her. And Ben Mackenzie is her best friend's boyfriend. Now Kayla has to go everyday enduring another wish, and hope that her crush, Ben, doesn't decide to kiss her that day.
This book was so good I couldn't set it down. It totally took a different direction than I had expected it to. All of Kayla's wishes were so funny and interesting. I was never bored, in fact, I was dying to read on and on to see what happened to Kayla. The book had such a lively and humorous tone to it, which I enjoyed a lot, and it definitely captured me from the very first page. The plot was amazing, the characters hilarious, and the whole book was just awesome. I think everyone should read this book!

Pretties

Wow, I haven't been on here in forever, have I??? Well, I did just finish Pretties by Scott Westerfield! So here's the review.

Tally Youngblood is finally a pretty. Everything around her is bubbly and life is totally amazing. She has her best friend, Shay, and her boyfriend. What could go wrong?
Everything.
Things changed in Tally's life when she finds a letter addressed to her and written from her which said that being a pretty wasn't all that good. No, being a pretty gives you brain damage, it kills you from the inside. Tally doesn't want to believe it, but there she is, her ugly self, writing a letter to her pretty self saying that she should take the two pills that give you the cure. Once Tally and her boyfriend take the pills, everything changes. It's no longer "bubbly" to be a pretty. It's an absolute lie. Being pretty was never safe. Now Tally has to make a choice, stay in Pretty Town and believe that nothing is wrong, or run away and go back to the Smokies,
      and save the life of all pretties.
This book was sooooo good! I liked it a lot! I'd already read the first book, Uglies, which was good too but it was such a long time ago I don't really remember much about it. I was hoping that everything would be solved by the end of the book, but I guess that can't happen since there's two more books in the series. The book was really interesting and captured you from the very beginning. There was a lot of things I didn't expect to happen and left my mouth hanging open. I can't wait to read the next book!
Tally was so independent and caring about all her friends. She ran into so much trouble and made a lot of mistakes but still, through all that she only became a better person. Now that's a lot of character development. Overall, if you have or even haven't read any Scott Westerfield, this book would be a good read for you!

Chapter 1

Finally, the day was here. Ever since the first day of freshman year I had been dreaming about the time when I would become a senior. There would be no more aggressive jocks and peppy cheerleaders to push any juniors around, at least none but us. Boy did it feel good to be at the top of the food chain.

            I crept out of bed, careful not to wake my mom. The clock read 6:25 and the sun had yet to creep out of the darkness, so I wandered to where my clothes lay in the dark. I’d fix my outfit later.

            After getting ready and heading downstairs, I struggled to think of what to make for breakfast. As if on cue, my cell phone buzzed from the kitchen counter and I picked it up, finding myself staring at Stella’s face.

            “Stell, what are you doing calling this early?”

            I heard a yawn from the other end. “Just wondering what you were eating for breakfast.” Best friends think alike.

            “I haven’t decided.” I said while picking up a box of cereal from the cabinet. “Actually, make that frosted flakes.”

            “Huh, I thought you’d go for cheerios.”

            I rolled my eyes. “Are we really gonna talk about breakfast the first day of senior year?” Of all the things Stella was good at, conversation was not one of them.

            “Fine. Do you need a ride?”

            “Since I’m not walking two miles, yes.”

            “Then see you in five.” And the conversation was over.

            I set the phone back and tried hard to keep my eyes from wandering to the picture frame sitting on the counter next to it. It would ruin my day. It would bring me back into a whole state of wondering and questioning, trying to find the truth.

I lost the battle.

I found myself staring at the picture. Me, with my brown hair all curly and untamed around my shoulders, I had my head turned away from the camera while I looked to the girl behind me. She had the same green eyes as me, the same smile. I wondered what it would be like if we were going to school together today. I wondered what it would be like to be a senior with my sister.

It wasn’t long ago that she disappeared, just four years. Only I remember it like it was yesterday.

It had been hot, one of those sticky and moist days in Briarfield, North Carolina. Everything had been the same; there hadn’t been a sign or a clue that things might be different that day. I remember thinking about how humid it was. I remember wishing I had gone along with Anya to her volleyball practice instead of walking home.

I’d stepped inside the air-conditioned house, instantly feeling better. I had sat down on the leather couch and waited and waited for Anya to come home. Only she didn’t come. She hadn’t picked up her cell phone, her friends hadn’t seen her, and she hadn’t been at practice. She’d simply disappeared.

I remember running up to my bedroom that night and crying myself to sleep. I’d prayed and prayed that this was all a dream, that I had gone with her to volleyball, and that we’d both be doing our homework right now, as if nothing had happened.

But I hadn’t. And even now, I think it’s my fault.

Beep! Beep! I snapped out of my trance, Stella was waiting for me outside.

I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door, forgetting about breakfast and for the most part, about Anya.

            “Hey, girl! Ready for the first day of the rest of your life?” Stella asked as I stepped into the car.

            “Ready as I’ll ever be.” Stella gave me one of her looks and rolled her eyes as she drove down the street.

Death by Denim

Hola there! Long time no see, huh? Haha. Well, I'm being lazy today, so the summary for this book is from the actual book, not mine. So here's the review!

Aphra Connolly is being chased by some very dangerous people. She knows her survival depends upon staying far away from love interest Seth, and listening to her mom’s lectures on the finer points of anonymity and survival. But how is a girl supposed to live under the radar and not think about her boyfriend when she’s in Paris—the most romantic city in the world? When her mom’s contact in Paris is found floating in the Seine with a deadly message stuffed in his mouth, Aphra realizes that she will never be able to stop running unless she confronts the situation head-on. Sneaking away from her mom, Aphra tracks down the criminal mastermind in Italy, only to unwittingly reveal Seth’s location. And her mistake has just put them both in mortal danger. . . .
Well, I have to say, this book was even better than the last two! There were so many twists and unpredictable things. I never knew what was going to happen. The ending was a little sad, but I guess I saw it coming.
Aphra was just as outgoing as before, she did the most dangerous things in order to save her and her friends life, and the consequences just made the book even more interesting. There was less of Seth in this book, but still enough for me to think how awesome he is. Ryan though- throughout the whole book I was like, "Ryan has to be a good guy, he CAN'T be a bad guy." And up until the very end I had no idea what the answer would be. The book managed to capture my attention from page one and overall proved to be a very good read!
