Sadness

I have sooooo little people visiting my blog these days, it makes me sad. Maybe I need to write better reviews or something? Hmmm... And I get like NO comments on anything, but I guess that's normal for me. I seriously hope you guys don't hate my blog, maybe I should start doing follow fridays again to get more views. Any tips?

Siren

Oh man, this getting really old. Every time I write a review my computer freezes and I have to close everything and write it alll over again. It gets really frustrating. So here I am again, trying to get in a review before everyone gives up on me and never visits my blog again... (Ok so maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but hey, it could happen.) Sigh... Anyways, I finished Siren by Tricia Rayburn and you guys know how I'm obsessed with murder mystery, so here's another one!

Vacationing in Winter Harbor, Maine, is a tradition for Vanessa and Justine Sands, and that means spending time with the Carmichael boys. This summer, Vanessa is determined to channel some of her older sister’s boldness, get over her fear of the ocean, and maybe turn her friendship with Simon Carmichael into something much more.
But when Justine goes cliff-diving after a big family argument, and her body washes ashore the next day, Vanessa is sure that it was more than an accident. She is more certain of this, when she discovers that her sister was keeping some big secrets and Caleb Carmichael’s gone missing. Suddenly, the entire oceanfront town is abuzz when a series of grim, water-related accidents occur, with the male victims washed ashore grinning from ear to ear.
Vanessa and Simon team up to figure out if these creepy deaths have anything to do with Justine and Caleb. But will what Vanessa discovers mean the end of her summer romance, or even life as she knows it?
This book had a lot of things I like, it had a great plot, awesome characters, and great twists. One thing I didn't like was that it was a bit confusing at parts, like either there was too much detail or too little, and another thing is that it was kind of too dark for me (just a smidge, not too bad).Other than that, it totally met my expectations. Vanessa was a really great character, she wasn't too perfect, she had her insecurities and her imperfections which just made her more enjoyable to read about. Also, it was cool to see how she grew throughout the book. Her and Simon I think made an awesome pair to read about, even though at the end I was furious at them. But even still, they made a really good team and made the book even better. I really liked that whenever you thought you knew something, some other twist came up and you had to start wondering again. I never like an easy mystery and I was really interested to see how it all came out in the end. The ending frustrated me a little bit, but I guess it just makes me want to read the second book in the series even more, Undercurrent. Overall, I'm really glad I picked up this book and I think everyone should read it!!!

Frustration!!!

Man, I'm sooooo frustrated right now. For some dumb reason, my blog only shows like one or two posts per page. And it's supposed to show ten. AH! Does this happen on your computer too??? I don't know why this is happening, and it's really annoying. Please, everybody, click on older posts and read my other reviews. I don't want the reviews to stay in the dark! Ugh. Hopefully I can fix this problem soon.

Funny Story

So I just got back from St Louis a while ago, and I have a funny story to tell. Now just a reminder, this may not sound very funny, but I promise, if you were there, you would have been cracking up.
So here's what happened. My mom, dad, sister and I are on our way back home from St Louis, and we stop by a local Pizza Hut for lunch. (keep in mind that this is still in the middle of the highway, maybe an hour away from home). So we eat our lunch, and are ready to go home, when it starts raining. Like pouring rain. It was raining like crazy and there was lightning and stuff. So my mom, sister and I are waiting by the Pizza Hut door while my dad went outside to get the car and bring it up front. And by this point, the rain has only gotten worse. So we're waiting, and waiting, and waiting. I'm pretty sure we waited for half an hour before my dad came inside the restaurant, soaking wet, and obviously the car is still parked where it was before. So we ask him what happened, and guess what? From the time he went to the car to turn on the engine and drive up to the door, he lost the key. He lost the car key. He's extremely soaked and is completely at a loss at where the key is. It's not under the car, outside the car, inside the car. No where. So in order to help, my mom goes and helps him. This takes another twenty minutes. Now they both come back soaking wet, and still with no key. So then we start worrying. We have no spare key, we're in the middle of no where, and it's going to get dark outside. We don't have our car insurance number handy, to call them and pick us up, so how are we going to get home? So while my parents are arguing about where the key could be, I kindly volunteer to help them find it. "No, Saba. If we can't find it then you can't either." My mom says. "Plus, you'll get soaked."
So I beg and beg them to let me help them find it, but they still don't let me. They go outside for another 15 minutes and still haven't found it. Finally, my mom gives in and let's me search for it. I sprint to the car and sit inside, it takes me ONE MINUTE, to stick my hand under the seat and find the key. It took my parents an hour, and they STILL didn't find it. It took me a minute. So lesson learned. Always listen to Saba.

Hex Hall

Omg. I'm super mad right now because something went wrong with my computer and I lost EVERYTHING I wrote on here. Sigh... I guess I'll just write my review again. I finished Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins. It was really good!
Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.

By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.

As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

So I was a little hesitant about picking up this book, (as always), and I actually turned out loving it. I wasn't really into the whole warlock and witches thing, more of a wizard type, but this book really changed my mind. First of all, what a awesome character Sophie is. She was so funny and absolutely delightful to read. She wasn't stupid and made the right choices, and she wasn't boring. She was full of life. The plot of the book was at first, just like any other murder mystery, but turned out to be way different. In a good way, of course. From the moment I read the first sentence, I was hooked. It was always one thing after another that happened and kept things interesting, it was amazing. The ending was quite a shocker, I have to say. I mean, like have you're mouth hanging open kind. But the good thing was, it kept me wanting more. And I'm soooo excited to read Demonglass, the second in the series. Now here's another character I loved, Archer. Archer was aamaazzinnnggg. Even though he seemed like a jerk, he was extremely funny like Sophie and of course, gorgeous. (Or you know, as gorgeous as you get written in words). All in all, this book was very, very good and is a must read whether you're a warlock fan or not.
