The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.
WOWOWOWOWOW. I hadn't actually even read the summary of the book when I picked it up, I just read it because my best friend Katie recommended it (her blog is here). And wow was this book good. It wasn't just plain awesome, it was just AMAZING x INFINITY. Wow. (I've said that a lot now haven't I?)
Ok, well first things first, the main character, Juliette was an amazing person. Everything she did was for a reason, and a very good reason at that. She wasn't one of those characters who annoyed the heck out of me because she made the stupidest mistakes, she was actually really smart. And, she felt real. For everything that she went through, I went through also. I felt her pain and actually felt bad for her. She was a very well written character and I give props to Mafi for that because she is a very amazing writer. Oh, and speaking of writing, OHMYGOSH THE WRITING IN THIS BOOK! Tahereh Mafi introduced a whole new level of writing, she wrote the most beautiful metaphors and she oh so perfectly expressed Juliette's feelings in the most perfect of times. It blew me away. I can't say much about the romance in this book because it will ruin it for you, but the romance was good. It wasn't like they totally fell for each other the moment they saw eachother, it was progressive, like a real romance should be. The plot of this book was amazing, Mafi took something very simple and made it into something very real and touching. It was really awesome. The book gets even better as you go on, it gets super hilarious towards the end, so hilarious that I actually laughed out loud in the middle of the night while reading in the dark and had to cover my mouth so I wouldn't wake anyone up. And MAN OH MAN does this book have some twists, it just kept getting better and better and more suspenseful. Do I have to say more about this book??? GO READ IT. NOW.

ReplyDeleteThank you for subbing me! I love your and I subscribed. I like it a whole lot! And now I have to read Shatter Me, haha. I've never heard of it before, but now I'm hooked. Nanowrimo doesn't work out for me too well. I don't like to be confined to a "set" number of words to do each day...but I guess that's what I'm doing now, so I don't know, haha. I agree, though. School tends to suck away any and all time for writing! What was your book about?
ReplyDeleteBurgandy Ice- Thx for following me back!!!
ReplyDeleteOlivia- Yeah, school does suck! My book was about this girl (it's a mystery) who passed out and had a vision after she touched this one girl and in her visions she saw this guy that she had actually seen in real life. and then the girl she passed out when she touched gets kidnapped and yeah, its pretty confusing. :p.
